HMTCA Student Application for Trinity Courses

All students who wish to take a Trinity course must submit this application form and choose a teacher from HMTCA to write a letter of recommendation. Students must also include a statement about their interest in each of the course(s) they are applying for. Statements will be sent to the professor teaching the course(s) identified. For this reason, we suggest that statements be specific and compelling.

Please be aware that HMTCA wil be providing Trinity College with a copy of the student's high school transcript as part of this application.

Students should contact their HMTCA guidance counselor for application deadlines. Information on admission to courses will be available 10 days prior to the start of Trinity's semester.

Enrollment in Trinity College courses is based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, student qualifications, teacher recommendations, available space, and Faculty approval. An application to Trinity courses is not a guarantee of enrollment.

Part II: Course Selection & Essay
Because space is limited, we ask that students rank order their top three course choices. However, there is no requirement that three courses be selected if, for example, there are only two courses a student is interested in taking. For each course selected, please provide a 150-word (maximum) essay that addresses your interest. In other words, if three courses are selected, three 150-word essays must be included in the application.

If you have applied to take at least one course in the humanities or social sciences (not math or science) as part of your selections, please include an academic writing sample (an essay or paper of no more than 10 pages) that you have written for one of your previous classes.

All applicants must designate the name of an HMTCA teacher who will complete an online confidential recommendation form to accompany this application. If you have selected more than one course choice, and feel that teachers in different subjects could best speak to your strengths for various course choices, feel free to ask more than one teacher to write.
